I’ve Been Adopted by the King

Consider a royal family. Your mind may immediately settle on England’s long-standing monarchy or the Medieval Era when knights, kings, and castles were prominent. If you’re a child whose father is the king, you are given access to him. You are provided for and protected by him; you are known and loved by him. You are an heir of his riches. There is certain empowering dignity and rapport that comes with being a child of the king. Additionally, children of royals are often in the limelight, all eyes watching their every action and decision.

As a Christian, you are a daughter of the King. Not just any King, but the King of all kings; the Ruler of eternity. You have full access to Him and His riches. You are sanctified by the sacrificial blood of Jesus; and when God looks upon you, He sees Christ’s righteousness despite your mistakes and sin; He sees His child. What a privilege to be known as a child of the King!

However, this privilege comes with responsibility. Because we are in Christ, we are also called to share in His suffering. Just because we are Christians, does not mean we are immune to trials, temptations, and persecution. In fact, Jesus tells us in John 16:33 and in many other areas of Scripture that in this world we will face persecution of every kind. But we can take heart, because Christ has overcome the world––He has already won! We can live confidently in the truths of God and His Word, knowing a future inheritance and glory––in spite of present suffering––awaits us in Heaven.

And remember, as a child of the King, people are watching your every action and decision. Wear your royal mark proudly by glorifying your Father in everything. Do not dissuade others from Christ’s Kingdom; rather, bring them to the Throne Room. Bring them to the foot of the King!
