People are afraid of a lot of things. I’ve had friends who were deathly afraid of butterflies, water, Slinkies, and pigeons. Anxiety disorder affects 1 in 8 teens in the U.S. If you are often afraid, you are not alone.
This week’s daily Scriptures focus on truths that will anchor your soul in God and help to relieve your fears. Whether you fear random and unusual things or struggle with general anxiety about your future, God’s got you! He care for you, knows you, fights for you, and is always, always with you.
Friday’s study features a young woman who had every reason to fear because absolutely nothing was going her way. She found herself desperate, alone, and rejected. But out of her story comes one of the Bible’s most important names of God: El Roi, The God Who Sees Me.
God has important things to speak into your heart during this week’s Shine Time!
God Cares About Me
Matthew 6:25–34 25 “Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather…
God Knows Me
Luke 12:6–7 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. I am one of four women in my immediate family. Growing up, my dad consistently complained about our hair. He was…
God Fights for Me
Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. Did you go to Sunday School when you were a child? Did you have Bible story books in your home? Have you seen the animated movie “Prince of Egypt”? If so, you are familiar with the Old Testament story of Moses leading the…
God Is with Me
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. I know two sisters who couldn’t be more opposite in personality type. One is an outgoing, super social extrovert and the other is a homebody who loves to…

Genesis 21:9–20 9 But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing. 10 So she said to Abraham, “Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.” 11 And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son. 12 But God…
